Tooth coloured materials for repairing teeth are normally composites. They are a combination of small particles of a tooth coloured ceramic material bonded together in a polymer liquid. This paste is carefully injected into the prepared cavity and a blue light is applied to the material to start a chemical reaction that causes it to completely set. Composite fillings do not contain mercury. These materials are extremely durable and bond to the tooth. In situations when the cavity is too large for a direct (that is a one visit) restoration an inlay may be required. The restoration is normally completed at the time of the visit and fees start from £93 and are based on the size of the restoration, linings and contouring required. |
