Veneers are thin layers of tooth coloured cast ceramic material that are bonded to the surface of the tooth. It is used in cases where whitening techniques have not been successful or if slight modification of the tooth shape is required. The tooth requires a small amount of preparation, about 0.75mm of the facing surface of the enamel is removed, and normally this does not require an anaesthetic. A shade is selected for the new veneers. An impression is recorded of the prepared teeth and the facings are constructed in the dental laboratory. The veneers are then bonded to the surface. Veneers are completed over two visits and the fees start from £400 per tooth and depend on the materials and laboratory processes selected. |
